I've been depressed for over about 10 months, major depressive disorder, and in an effort to kick it my doctors prescribed Adderall to help me with my
energy.
I don't like to get up, I won't shower, I won't make dinner and I won't do anything unless I have to. I don't even want to do things I enjoy, like seeing my horse, because I am too tired.
I get so exhausted, just by getting out of bed and checking my e-mail.
I'm on 40 mg of Adderall and it's not working at all. In fact, I feel more exhausted. I feel like my hands are shaking and I feel so weak that I'm afraid to stand. I just lean back in my chair and kind of doze off. Before I was on 20 mg a day. I take it two times a day. I'm already on two anti-depressants and I've changed my habits, my diet and pretty much every other aspect of my life.
Has anyone here been prescribed Adderall for depression and have it not work at all? Or did anyone take it for ADD/ADHD and have it not work? It's Adderall XR, by the way.
Also, I took Ritalin and it made my heart rate jump up to 120 bpm so I was taken off of it. I didn't even notice it. But even on Ritalin, I slept. I really want to sleep right now but I promised my doctors I won't.
I already spoke to both of them and their solution was to increase the dose. I've tried almost every other drug under the sun so I know this is kind of a last attempt to help my energy level, but I don't like this excessive weakness. I'm going to see them on Sunday for an emergency consult. But any insight you guys can offer would be great.
