Welcome!
This board is a safe place. Feel free to talk about your issues you are facing.
If you are actively suicidal, call 911. You need to be getting help and not being here.
Some of these rooms are moderated and some aren't. It will say so at the room.
Here is BPD Today's Board Rules:
1) Suicidal ideation and discussions of suicide are permitted as long as you are not at immediate risk. Thoughts of suicide are normal for many of us as we suffer depression, etc. We need to discuss these things openly.
However, anyone who is actively suicidal (i.e. at risk) is NOT permitted onto ANY of the boards as you are encouraged to call 911 immediately! The moderators on these bulletin boards are not trained to deal with suicidal matters and we do not have any information on how to locate you to call law enforcement. Again, you are NOT permitted onto the board until your actively suicidal thoughts have terminated completely. We will welcome you back when you are safe.
2) No foul language is permitted except in the "Private Room." (If you absolutely feel you must; the words "crap," "hell," "damn" & "ass" are permitted). It is true that there are times when curse words are helpful when expressing yourself and they are very powerful. However, many people take offense to this and many times this habit can be abused. This is also a good place to practice disagreements with positive discussion versus splitting and raging.
No "half-use" of foul language is permitted. IE., sh&t, or he%%. If you use these sorts of words your message will not be released onto the board.
3. Discussion of self-mutilation or self-harm can be discussed in the appropriate Self Harm Room ONLY. This is a trigger for many people so we need to protect everyone on this board. Also discussion of these topics are only permitted when it is in terms of recovery.
4. No arguments, fights or flames are permitted on this bulletin board. It is fine to say you disagree with someone and why, but it is not appropriate to argue or flame someone. This is not the place to rage. This is the place to discuss your rages.
5. You are expected to show complete courtesy and respect at all times to one another, to the board moderators and administrators and to Mental Health Today. You will be treated with complete courtesy and respect at all times as well. Remember these people give their own time to come in and help out.
If you feel at any time that your rights as an individual have been violated, we are here to listen and take appropriate action if necessary. If you have a grievance discuss it with myself at patty@mental-health-today.com.
6. You are expected to keep the same nickname on the MH Today boards except in the "Private Room." This avoids a lot of confusion.
7. You may not give out any medical or legal advice to others!
If you have left a message and do not find it posted and you have a question about why you don't find it, feel free to ask one of the moderators.
Moderators have been instructed to delete offensive posts, not to edit them. We do not have the time to edit posts and it is not their responsibility to do that. It is up to the person posting the message.
If a member continues to break the rules of the board, and/or demonstrates very disruptive behavior on the board, he/she will be banned from the board for a period of time after receiving fair warning.
There are bans however that do happen without warning to the board member. These happen only if the behavior is severe and they must be approved by myself. In fact all bans must be approved by me.
The moderator who bans you will give you the reason about why you are being banned.
We happen to think you are very special and we will be providing a safe atmosphere for everyone.
I encourage people to make friends with people you feel safe with.
If you are having a problem with another member on the board we encourage you to initially try to work the issue out with the other person. The use of this board can provide excellent practice skills you can take out into the real world.
You are expected to know these rules when you come on board. It is your responsibility to read them.
Again welcome!
Warmly,
Patty Pheil M.S.W.
